Biography
Blackroot is a rock band from the Philadelphia/South Jersey region. Joe Davis, Dave Bollinger and Bryan Haines are the trio that make up the core of the band. Chris Taormina was added on vocals for the band’s debut album “Last Great Thing” (2010).
Joe and Dave first met while in high school. Bryan joined them shortly thereafter. Just about every day after school, you could find the three of them in Joe’s basement trying to work out Rush tunes and other progressive rock material. Though they played together for many years, they also spent time separately playing with various other bands.
In 2006, tiring of the road, cover bands, and playing other people’s music they regrouped. They re-discovered the fun of just jamming, recreating those formative years in Joe’s basement. It was a fresh reminder of why they loved to play. Hanging up the many hats they wore they decided to focus exclusively on working on an original album.
They built a studio, purchased some equipment, tuned up the instruments, tuned up again, and the writing/recording began.
Four years later, amidst the children growing up, weddings, mortgage bills, graduations… the late evenings and the long weekends finally paid off and the album was finished.
